I ordered this rather esoteric book for my musician husband as it was highly recommended by none other than Quincy Jones, musician/composer/arranger and legend. Read Quincy's interview in Esquire and he raves that he owes his genius to his study of this particular book when he was just starting his musical career. My husband loves this book. I want to note that Amazon quickly corrected a shipping snafu for me. Apparently the shipping label for my order was placed on the wrong package and I received a retractable clothesline instead of the book. I wrote to Amazon to explain that the shipping label matched my order but the package contents did not match my order. I received a replacement book the very next day! Thank you Amazon for fast customer service. I wonder if the person who ordered the clothesline was equally puzzled when they opened their package to find a Thesaurus of Scales and Melodic Patterns.

Though not technically part of Zodhiates' works, this dictionary makes an excellent companion to Zodhiates' Complete Word Study Old Testament, it is a very helpful source to look up English definitions of Hebrew words. Definitions range from a couple of sentences to a page or more.Good for us non-theologians who want to understand the Bible better. Easy to use and understand. Not sure what to compare it to, but I found it much easier to just pick up and begin using than, say, Vine's. Also, I don't typically make use of a standard Bible dictionary in my personal Bible study, but this is different because as I read a text, with Zodhiates' Complete Word Study Old Testament open, I will repeatedly use this volume to understand as I go.Using a word study approach to Bible study not only helps you understand its meaning, but also causes you to ponder more what is being said.

 I love this book!!!! I opened it up and found that the cover is on UPSIDE DOWN and the text is BACKWARDS !!!!! Ya gotta love it!!!All 2138 pages!!! I will cherish this forever and ever. Quite the find. I'm sure that this is worth 3x the price... I would put photos but I'm not sure how to show this in all of it's splendor..Made my day!!!! Thanks

One of the best bible word study tools on the market. I have the set of old and new testament dictionaries and word study helps. Do be tricked like me. You can do scholarly work with just the old and new testament dictionaries. It is keyed to strong's numbering system.

Just as expected when purchased. I am enjoying this. However in case it isn't made clear anywhere else (since I had to do some research to figure this out before I purchased it), you definitely will need to own a Strong's Concordance in order to use this dictionary. It is will only work in conjunction with a Strong's Concordance to look up the information with.

This book is very thick and large, WOW! I gave it five star because the definitions are explain in English; however, the word is written in both the Hebrew letter and Hebrew word, so this is a challenge for me and for that reason I'm returning the book...However, I believe it deserve 5 star because for those who know or studying Hebrew, I believe would enjoy this dictionary.

For anyone studying Hebrew, this is awesome. And I find myself just reading it for HOURS, long after I found the word I was searching for, although it provides a comprehensive word study. It's just really INTERESTING !

This has been so very helpful and really makes our bible study time a sweet time. DIG IN!!! God's Word is True!!

And more importantly, why hasn't Amazon done anything about this?

This book does have credit in that it tries to assist those who are not mathematics majors, however it is still extremely difficult to understand (especially for those such as myself who do not have a math-oriented mind). The worst part, however, and the reason for the one star review, is the book's extreme over reliance on third party add-ins for Excel, such as StatTools. The book goes to great lengths to explain how to use this program, but the issue is that the add-in is not available for Mac computers. Therefore, this book is practically useless for anyone without a Windows PC. I was unable to complete about a quarter of the work assigned in my class due to the fact that the book does not explain how to do the work without using StatTools.

These are ok, but not as good as I expected. The drawings and photos on the cards come out of Dissection of The Dog (Evans/Delahunta), Miller's Anatomy of the Dog, and Textbook of Veterinary Anatomy (Dyce). Each card has several anatomical features numbered, with the answers on the back. The cards are full-color, and the printing is good. 80% or so are based on canine anatomy; the other 20% are horse, bird, cat, pig, cow.Where I feel these flashcards fall short:1) Because there are several items labelled on each card, once you look at the back, you see the rest of the answers. I expected only one item per card so I could use them as true flashcards. The way these are setup, they are no better than using the pages out of the textbook to quiz yourself.2) The durability of the cards is poor. They are on lighter stock than I would have expected, and they are not coated. As a result, the corners bend very easily.3) The box they come in is slightly too small to hold all of them. As a result, the box corner seams were split on arrival. The undersized box also makes it a very tight fit to get the cards in and out easily.Overall:These could have been a good tool, but it doesn't seem like much thought went in to putting them together. If you already have Dissection of the Dog or Anatomy of the Dog, I wouldn't recommend getting these cards.

I am a first year veterinary student and I will admit that anatomy is not one of my strong suits. Especially since this is my first time learning all new species! I love these cards. I am a visual learner so reading about anatomy doesn't really help me much, I need to be able to see it. I have tried reading Duke's but that hasn't really helped me very much. I bought these and have been using them as my primary source to study anatomy. The box comes with all different species (equine, dog, cat, pig, cow) no birds though. The cards are also organized into body area like thorax, pelvic limb, and so on. The cards also make them easier to take on the go, you can just take the section and species that you are focusing on put them in your bag and pull them out when you have a few extra minutes between classes.

These flash cards were absolutely fabulous, they just were not helpful in my particular course of school work. They are of great quality, easy to read, and divided into specific categories which is extremely helpful. The cards got into specifics that were not required in the anatomy course I took, and did not cover a lot of the more general items that I was required to learn. If you are taking an anatomy course that requires you to learn very specific muscles/nerves/etc then these will be a great help to you!

Love these cards! Not only do they have cartoon looking pictures, they actually have some real pictures of x-Rays and body parts. Must have for any one looking into being a vet or vet tech!

As an adult, Joris traveled to contemporary Zaire in order to see what her uncle had seen. She found a persistent memory of colonization and of the "other," finally making the colonial past and its consequences the main motifs of her book. The boat to Zaire, the urban areas and Kinshasa, the "bush" and interior--all are described in a clear personal voice, with a journey on the Zaire river to the town of Kisangani the high point of her adventure. Here's another book by that almost MK (missionary kid--Lieve Joris' uncle was a Catholic missionary). To those who have lived in Congo, it will bring back many, many memories. She was on a quest to see where her uncle had worked. The ship taking her to Congo was full of Belgian colonials who had a rather prejudiced view of Congo and its people, which she took with a grain of salt. Her visit to her uncle's mission station in Lower Congo was detailed, but a bit lacking in the warmth of hospitality that we know could have been there. Did you ever ride a motorcycle or a taxi in Kinshasa's "cité"? I did, and maybe you regret that you didn't, and now you can have the experience safely and vicariously. So many familiar scenes here. The book was first published in Flemish in 1987, but one has the impression that her voyage was earlier in the Mobutu era.A flight to Gbodolite, Mobutu's town, introduces us to that spot in its heyday, and a particular baron of the regime, living in style. You will be regaled by the adventures and misadventures on this long riverboat voyage by Joris. She warms more and more to Congo as the book progresses.Kisangani the declining city gets a not very complimentary introduction, and she accurately takes the pulse of Lubumbashi and Kolwezi by traveling with a young Congolese man. Her final encounter with the security police of Kisangani and then Kinshasa ends the book on an unfortunately realistic sour note. But you will find it worthwhile to relive a voyage to Congo with Lieve Joris.

This book is about the first journey of Lieve Joris to Africa. And in my opinion you can feel/read between the lines that she is travelling like this the first time. Though I had some problems getting through the first 70 pages, I became to like to book/story very much. After those first 70 pages and having overcome the cruiseship and the typical people, the real adventure unravels. Lieve Joris gave me a view of Africa that I will never experience. First of all Zaire is now the Republic of Congo. Secondly I would not dare to travel like she does, therefore this book is a dedicated window to Africa for me. I like the way Joris writes, somehow like a journalist getting into her subject. Not like a novelist at all. This book was my hypertextlink to Conrads 'Heart of Darkness', for Joris travels the same river into dark Africa.
