This is the best instructional book I've read! Author Michael Miller takes a reader clearly and patiently through each step, never assuming anything, with illustrations for each step. He doesn't talk down to supposed "tech-limited" seniors on their way to dementia. Perk: the slightly larger print is a godsend.This is a book for anyone, young or older, who wants to quickly know how to use their IPad with the latest IOS 11.00. Mr. Miller covers everything. After trying to add email accounts, I hit a glitch, turned to Mr. Miller's book and YES, he had covered the problem. I quickly solved it down to his clear, uncomplicated directions. A GREAT BOOK!

As a volunteer, I provide free, iPhone/iPad training classes at a nearby senior, independent, residence facility. I have not only used this book as a reference for my class preparations, but it is one that I have recommended to attendees who wish to learn on their own or simply have available for reference. The book is clearly written and illustrated and I find it very impressive that the author publishes new versions with the release of each new operating system. I'm new to anything Apple. I recently purchased an iPad. I've always been a windows person with the exception of a Samsung tablet. Thinking the operating system would be similar to the Samsung I went for the iPad. But, they were really nothing a like. So I was lost wandering the Apple iPad forest alone and afraid. This book is elementary, made for someone who has never touched an apple iPad...hence it is working great for me. I'd highly recommend it for newbies to Apple.

For my 90 yo Dad, think he is finding the iPad a bit much. His experience is total pc laptop. I perused when visiting. Liked it, a little elementary for me but a GOOD start!

We helped our older friends buy iPads -their first ever. So we bought them this book and itâ€™s great, not just for seniors, but for anyone new to using an iPad. Easy to understand with pictures to show you. He is almost 80 and she is in her 70â€™s and they have never used any type of tablet, now they are googling everything, reading books, have their bible downloaded on their iPads. Researched their 2 week vacation on where to go and what to do. Last night for the first time they sent an iMessage to our iPhone. Next they are going to work on using the email with the iCloud account.We do need to tell you that we did set up their iPads for them to start with, however this book will help you do that too.You can also take your iPad to your local Apple store to help you, if you just want to get it set up and than use this book from that point on.

I bought this book in hopes of making the transition from Microsoft Windows experience to Apple I-pad experience. It has helped in some ways, but let me down big-time when it came to specific questions. For example, not a word about printing from my I-pad. It leaves out the crucial information about how to transform an Apple "page" product to being readable in Word (finally found out via Siri). In setting up my email, using a server that is not already configured on it, it said not a word about the &*()%^% screen that popped up asking me about my outgoing and incoming server information. There seem to be crucial holes in the information needed. This book may serve people who are simply completely new to computers, rather than those transitioning from Windows to Apple, but I wish I had known that before I spent my money. Sign me Frustrated.

Highly recommend!! I have a 15 year old, 9 year old and a 7 year old who all have laptops, iPads and iPhones. I have set up parental controls, but I understand those only go so far. After learning from a morning radio podcast that the average age children are being exposed to porn for the first time is between 8-11, I realized the best thing to do was have a discussion. Without this book, I'm not exactly sure where I would've started. Let's face it-- it's not the most comfortable conversation you're going to have with your kids. So it helps to have something to refer to.I really like the no-shame approach the author takes. It's so much more than just "don't watch or look at porn." It gave my children a real understanding about the brain and its natural response to pornography, how it can affect you if you look at it, and how to be prepared when you do come across it (since, let's face it... it's gonna happen at some point).It says the recommended age is 8+, but I involved my 7 year old in our conversation and he fully understood.Another thing I would like to point out, is that even if you haven't had the talk about the "birds & the bees", this book is still for you. It didn't raise any questions about sex, which I could appreciate since we're not quite ready to have that discussion with our younger ones. The reason why it doesn't go there, is because it doesn't go into detail about what is involved in pornagraphic videos- it simply describes pornography as "pictures, videos or even cartoons of people with little or no clothes on".

I just finished reading "Good Pictures Bad Pictures" with my 7-year-old daughter. At the end of each chapter, she wanted to dictate her notes to me and have me record them in the book. I thought you might get a kick out of her notes. As you can see, she missed the boat slightly in some areas, but some of her comments show impressive maturity and comprehension. Also, she is adorable.â€œYou canâ€™t look at pornography. If someone offers to show you a picture, just ask what itâ€™s about and if itâ€™s a surprise just donâ€™t look at it.Addiction make you start lying to your family and friends. And you must not try things you could be addicted to once. And you can joke about things you might be addicted to like, â€˜Iâ€™m addicted to Dippinâ€™ Dots.â€™ Cuz Dippinâ€™ Dots are good.My feeling brain makes me thirsty and decide what to eat and also rewards me for what I do right. But if I start to do pornography my feeling brain might start to reward me for it. But if Iâ€™m smart enough to not feel rewarded then my feeling brain will make me feel bad for looking at pornography.I learned to try to not get addicted to stuff like pornography or drinking or smoking or taking yummy pills even if I donâ€™t need them. The more I use my thinking brain, the stronger it gets. Even if Iâ€™m about to look at pornography, my thinking brain says, â€œNo!â€ If Iâ€™m doing my math homework my thinking brain gets stronger about pornography.I learned to leave my thinking brain in charge and let my feeling brain help me know what I want to do unless Iâ€™m spoiled. If I want to run into the street, I donâ€™t have to get there immediately. Say I just got home from â€œColor Me Mineâ€ and I run across the street without stopping to think. I might get hit by a car, or, more luckily, almost hit by a car.I learned not to take drugs. Drugs will probably make you get pictures of pornography and trick people into looking at them even if they donâ€™t want to. Drugs can make you lie about whether something is pornography. If youâ€™re watching your favorite movie, there might be some pornography in it.When your brain starts looking at pornography, it starts to make its own kind of drug. After you finish pornography, you stop having the drug that your brain makes. After the drug stops, you feel pain. Some people take drugs only to feel better. Instead of doing drugs or pornography, do something you like. If you still feel unhappy DO NOT TAKE DRUGS. Just wait. Do not take drugs. Just like go outside and lay on the grass. I tried it once and it really helped.â€

I am a therapist to Partners of Porn/Sex Compulsions/Addictions and Adult Children of Porn/Sex Compulsion/Addictions. I see and hear on a daily basis the trauma that compulsive Porn viewing does to a person, his/her family, and the community as a whole. This book describes how the brain is impacted by â€˜porn useâ€™ in a way that even a child can understand.I personally sought out this book for my 6-year when he tearfully reported seeing naked people on a 6 year-old friendâ€™s phone. My son was not able to verbalize what he had seen. Thankfully Good Pictures/Bad Pictures explained to him in easy terms that he had seen pornography.
