Bought this for my 15 year old son, and he rolled his eyes. However, I have found it on his night stand, and strangely enough, I think he has been reading it as he does say and do something a bit different. We need more gentleman in the world today. The only way to get men who are gentleman is to get boys who are gentleman. This book is not outdated, as the principles of acting right are always relevant.

I strongly recommend this book for anyone that has a young son or grandson. It addresses a lot of subjects and if followed will teach every young man how to become a gentleman. This was recommended by someone and I ordered for my grandson. I was very pleased with the content and believe that it has made a difference.

About the Author

Ignatia Broker, who died in 1987, was a member of the Ojibway tribe, the Ottertail Pillager Band, and the A-wa-sa-si Clan. She was born in 1919 on the White Earth Indian Reservation and attended an Indian boarding school in North Dakota. Her higher education included the Minnesota School of Business. Following this, she faced fierce discrimination when seeking employment. In 1966, she began a career with the Minneapolis Public Schools, where she became a member of the Minority Task Force, aiding in the development of the Title IV Indian Studies Curriculum. As a staff writer for the Audio Visual Based Indian Resource Unit of the Minneapolis Public Schools, she authored many stories, filmstrips, and booklets that are a part of the curriculum today. Broker was also a member of many Indian organizations and founded the Minnesota American Indian Historical Society. In 1984, she received a Wonder Woman Foundation award honoring her extraordinary accomplishments as a woman striving for peace and equality.

This one made an even stronger impact on undergraduate students unfamiliar with the topic, history, people, complexities of economics, cultural imperialism of U.S. Christian "missions" intersection U.S. politics (land grabbing and exiling / brutalizing First People's)

This book really touched me deeply. I also made me sad that we "enlightened" Europeans saw fit to destroy a very peaceful culture that could teach us many lessons.I think this is a great book for anyone to read!

The quaint style of the writer who gave her account of Ojibway culture while being taken over by the 'voyagers' who crossed the waters, seems very authentic and informative. There is an underlying gentleness of the neighbors who were overtaken by a more mechanically developed culture.

Read this book as required reading for a course at the University of Minnesota. I found the story to be very moving. It told of a remarkable, wise woman who adapted to many difficult changes with uncommon strength and dignity.

Wonderful and well written narrative about an Ojibway woman transitioning from old culture to new.

I'm really enjoying this book. I've even read some to my granddaughter.

A fabulous teaching

This is a must read for all ages and walks of life. The life and story of the Ojibway is the beginning of healing for this planet.

Between ordering and receiving this book, I looked up the author's YouTube and was turned off by his victim-blaming mindset of "if you haven't attracted wealth, you don't want it bad enough." Excuse me?! Not that I'm playing the victim or refusing to take responsibility for my situation, but such a condescending tone to the reader is a red flag. Nonetheless, I hate to neglect a plausible book I paid money for, so I got through reading this without feeling anything for it. One decent thing about it are the chapter reviews with instructions for exercises and journaling. Otherwise I feel like this is hyped up just because the author appeared in The Secret. If you're already familiar with the law of attraction, this is nothing new.

The lessons offered in this book far surpass the money aspect of life an offer key factors of changing your thoughts of how to improve your life in every area that you can think of.
