The British Army's XXX Corps has generally taken a beating from World War II historians for its failure to reach Arnhem in time to rescue the British First Airborne Division. Operation Market-Garden has thus been famously "a bridge too far". The truth may be a bit more subtle, as historian Ken Ford suggests in this third volume of his Osprey Campaign Series on the operation.Operation Market Garden was supposed to restore the momentum of the British 21st Army Group attack across the Netherlands and into Germany. There was pressure, and an opportunity, to use the Allied Airborne Army. The XXX Corps had crossed the Albert Canal and was positioned to follow up. What was less apparent to Allied planners were Germany's frantic efforts to thicken up the battlefield in front of XXX Corps, pulling in fledgling units from Germany and retrieving bypassed units from Belgium. Attacking up a very narrow corridor to the Rhine River was going to be tougher than anticipated...Ken Ford does an excellent job laying out the opposing sides, their commanders, their forces, and their plans. His highly readable narrative spells out what went right and wrong on the ground, nicely supported by maps, battle diagrams, illustrations, and period photographs. Very highly recommended as a concise account of the Operation, to be read in conjunction with the first two volumes, covering the Airborne operations.

After three years in the making, Osprey has completed another excellent Campaign "series". This is a winning "proof-of-concept" for the publisher. Caught in a trap of their own making - specific, hard page limits for different series (e.g.; all Men-at-arms series must be 48 pgs). - they were subject to appropriate criticism for giving campaign topics very brief coverage. By splitting up Operation Market-Garden into three neat and seperate titles they gave good coverage to this perennially favored WWII topic.Ken Ford's volume on the British ground offensive is surprisingly satisfying. He strikes a good balance between command insights, operational analysis and tactical details. Even given the "expanded" campaign format, all the minutiae that some readers will lust after can't be included. For example, only brief biographic sketches of the leading commanders are provided. That is ameliorated somewhat by similar, but supplemental, sketches of other officers in the two companion volumes on airborne operations. The maps are good, with no evidence of the previous shortcomings in Osprey map graphics from a few years back. The photos are also of interest, and in this volume there are none of the too-often-seen photos that get published in every book on Market-Garden. The prose is also remarkably good, and clear. Sadly this is something that Osprey has struggled with in recent years, publishing some real "head scratchers" that were barely readable (e.g.; for some reason the American War of 1812 appears to be a magnet for bad writers ). This time the Editor gets to keep his job, perhaps even getting a Bonus!

Again Volume 5 is a Del Rey published book. I'm thankful they picked up the series, but the work they did could have been better. Some of the dialogue for some pages get cut off, mainly due to either wordy translations or not enough page space.In Volume 5, Akito/Agito enrolls in Ikki's school after the whole ordeal in Volume 4 and decides to ride with him in the team he will be creating. Ikki creates the (legendary to-be) Storm Rider team, Kogarasumaru, and includes members Akito/Agito, Kazu, Buccha, and Onigiri. Team Kogarasumaru also have their 'debut' match against Sabel tiger, the first of many official matches to reach the Trophaeum.

I just finished reading volumes 1 - 3 and absolutely love the story. The battles are intriguing and the art style is truly captivating. Also, the main character, Ikki, is awesome, he isn't like most main characters which are generally weak and puny, he fights for what he believes in which is another unique aspect this manga has, a strong lead character. In my opinion, volume 3 of this book was the best. Ikki's battle vs Buccha gave me a strong urge to continue reading because it left me wondering how the main character could possibly win. I'll definitely invest more time and money into the series, as of right now I can see this becoming my favorite.

I absolutely loved the Air Gear anime, and I was so sad that it ended way before the story came to a close. The manga makes the characters much more lovable, especially Ringo. I love the artwork, and the story is already noticeably different from the anime. I now have to consider purchasing the rest of the series, but I may have to go with the omnibus versions to cut the cost down.

I finally got to collecting the volumes of one of my favorite series, starting off with Volume 3 (buying cheapest, best condition ones first). First, I must say, I sure am glad Kodansha picked up the series from Volume 18 onwards. Del Rey, unfortunately, was doing a pretty bad printing job. The dialogue from some of the characters on various pages throughout the volume, get cut off, due to insufficient space.Volume 3 is mainly about Ikki vs Buccha, after Buccha beats up Ikki's friends Kazu and Onigiri. The winner of the "parts war" will dominate the school.

Volume 22 practically has to do with the commencement of the Gram Scale Tournament. Unfortunately for Team Kogarasumaru, Ikki forgets to submit the application. Prior to the commencement, it features a pretty action packed duel, between Ikki and Kazu, due to Kazu losing confidence and straying off their path. Excellent series.

Great Manga, 5 stars.

Its AIRGEAR......Not much else needs to be said. I have been enjoying these Manga for over a year now and I am on Volume 20 right now after having finally purchased 15/16/17 not to long ago. The art is wonderful and the story is funny and it has a lot of adventure in it. Good read and enjoyable in my opinion.

Amazing book for any polymer chemist, beginning to advanced. Covers all the basics all the way into very in-depth details to polymer physics. This has been super helpful not only in class, but for my Ph.D. dissertation work.

I was required to get this book for a college polymer class. Its not bad, but it does lack in examples. It never fully explains how to do many types of problems, which makes studying for exams much harder. If your prof fills in the blanks, its okay, or if you just want to understand some general principles, its great. It just lacks on the particular details of solving more complex problems.
