From my perspective, this is how manners should be taught! It is about the pragmatic working our of cultural values of kindness that we extend amongst ourselves in a way to keep from hurting people, offending or insulting them by our behavior. Just a perfect book for young and older teens but the lessons could be extrapolated by the parents for younger children. I didn't do a single one of the role-plays but I'm sure kids would have fun doing them in a class setting with a church or school. It is not comprehensive in the Emily Post way of outlining manners, but has the same result... shoring up our relationships and making people feel welcomed and wanted in our social group.

Quite modern and up to date. I was having trouble getting my teenage granddaughters to write thank you notes, and the common sensediscussion of such notes made the problem and its solution really spoke to our girls.
I purchased this book for my 9 year old daughter. She was so excited when the book arrived and began reading it immediately. After reading each chapter, she came to me to explain everything she had learned about manners and being a kind and thoughtful person. I love how this book is written in ways children can understand. It's important for children to learn these important steps not only from their parents but, from outside sources as well. Adults can use these life lesson skills too. Thank you Suzanne-Marie English for sharing your words of wisdom with us!
Bought to prove that I'm NOT being picky or overly sensitive, nor am I they only person who thinks like this. Helps immensely that it's not an "old" book also.
It is a great refreasher course and reminder of the value of good etiquette.
Good approach to manners and respect. Bit of a different twist on respect. Enjoyed it. Good reference.
