…it's got recipes you won't see in more traditional cider books (get some of them as well).This book may be just a bit light on "how to…" but Resources at the back of the thing will point you to books, supplies and some other online resources.I like the 1 & 5 gallon recipe info, most books lead you through "new" recipes with just the 5 (too much if you don't like your new cider)Well worth owning.

this is really a great and straight to the point book.....read a couple of others and sometimes these get too technicar and/or very "sophisticated"...this one is a great read...a supberb teach....with some very very interesting recipes!

This book is the perfect blend of information and recipes. It's something that anyone can make!

Very informative.

I grew up in Amish country and every year we waited for cider season. We bought fresh pressed apple juice, cloudy and thick, from roadside stands or direct from local farmers who made it from windfalls and other ugly apples that did not go to the farmers markets. Drinking the cider was a complex operation because each of us liked it "turned" to a different degree. Several jugs of cider sat in the garage for varying lengths of time till someone decided that it was "done" enough and put it in the fridge to slow fermentation. Once in a while the jugs would explode if someone didn't loosen a cap. Once in a while a jug would go to vinegar if someone forgot about it. This is what Emma Christensen calls "Traditional" cider, made with wild yeast and no added chemicals or flavorings.Now I am out in the world and I drink cider whenever I can find it, mostly opting out of beer. This is great when I am in the UK where cider is a normal pub drink and even scrumpy (a messy, yeasty rough cider) can be found in some communities. Finding bottled cider in the USA has gotten very difficult as the expensive and tasty imported brands give way to US flavored crap. I recently visited San Francisco and could not find a decent cider anywhere. Everyone was carrying that brand that does all the advertising or a very local brand that tasted of nothing but peel and was so bad I gave it back to the bartender and switched to wine.Many of these brewers should take a look at Ms Christensen's book for some more sophisticated ideas on blending apples and yeasts to get real cider flavor that balances sweet, sour and bitter. I am particularly concerned that the finished cider does not taste of peel, which happens if brewers are using the wrong strain of Granny Smith (some these days have peel so bitter I have to peel them to eat) or, horrors, they are recycling pomace from an applesauce factory.If you are interested in cider, and are already a beer maker, you are good to go with the recipes in this book. But I don't know many beer drinkers who also drink cider so perhaps there will be more people who want to make cider at home but are not familiar with home brewing. This book is a good starting place.Ms Christensen's instructions are complete and correct but perhaps it would be a good idea to supplement this information with some time online watching people use the equipment, or talking to a neighbor who brews beer. Get a feel for the rhythm of things. Start with the simple recipes and a range of yeasts. The yeast makes all the difference (after the peel).Ms Christensen's prose is clear and uncluttered. There are lots of photos of farms and orchards in the autumn. I am not sure this book needed to be so fancy. As someone who has read 100+ personal development books, I found Jen's rendition to be much of the same advice repackaged in her voice.So the pro's of this book:I love that it's in her voice. It's engaging and I find that listening to these kind of audiobooks, even if they are repeating the same information, beneficitial.The con's of this book:Nearly nothing feels or seems remotely fresh in terms of new ways of seeing my money situation. In terms of results from this book, I didn't notice any inclination to take more action. She's also a coach, and touts the benefits of coaching in almost every chapter. I don't mind that she's selling herself in her own book... but at the same time it just made me have my hackles up most of the book because the way it was presented seemed like coaching was The Answer most of the time, instead of 'a possible answer if it makes sense to you'.There are other books I found way more useful in terms of motivation, inspiration, and lasting change. Some of them being; The Richest Man In Babylon. After years and years, I still apply what I've learned there. I know what I applied will let me comfortably retire on over a million dollars.I'm sorry to write this review in some ways, because Jen really has a great tone of voice but honestly this is what I got from this book.

I honestly do not understand the book's high rating and appeal. After reading through it near two times, afraid I perhaps missed some important details the first time through somehow, I'm pretty shocked at how well the book is performing critically.There is a large amount of enthusiasm in the book, but very little practicality behind it.One great example of this is how the book has several mini-stories about random people who "made money successfully." One of them is about a woman who needed a lot of money quick. She went into the attic and discovered a stock/bond paper or something that turns out to be worth exactly the amount of money she needed! Amazing, the moral of the story: YOU CAN MAKE MONEY LIKE THIS TOO!See the problem? The book is littered with stuff like this, over and over.The author spends a large amount of time writing how she had to come up with a large amount of money for some seminars on how to make money. Something like $80,000 for a seminar. Which she ends up borrowing from someone. By the end, I'm more confused than when I started. Was the lesson to not be afraid to ask people for money? Were there tips on how to ask people for money? Was it a recommendation to not be afraid to spend large amounts of money that isn't yours on seminars? That's nearly 1/2 a year's salary for someone with a technical job like myself, well above the average person. No one in the right mind set should follow that advice. Never put yourself in crippling debt, with a friend or family member no less, for something like a ~seminar~.What exactly the author benefited out of that kind of money being spent on a ~seminar~ was totally lost on me. More so on the second time I read those parts.Who is this book for?I guess it's for people who think their money problems go away by spending more money than they have on seminars and feel-better-about-yourself guides.What does this book do?I guess at the end of it, you get you into the mind set that you could get away with robbery for silly reasons (like asking your friend/family for a stupid amount of money on loan). I'm guessing that is the point of the title.What does this book not do?Not a drop of practical advice on making money and actually being badass at making money. Just makes you think it, somehow?

This book was terrible and a waste of my time. I liked Jen's last book, but this book was just like it. 1. You are a badass 2. Think positive 3. The universe blah blah blah. Please do not waste your money.

I would have been $9.99 richer if I hadn't spent money on this book. It's basically a pep talk with no actual advice, just the same basic mantra of "believe you'll make money and you will" repeated over and over and over.It took me so long to get through the first 70% of the book, thinking "surely it will get better eventually" without it ever getting better that I was past the seven day return policy for a Kindle book.

This book is about changing your mindset. It isn't revolutionary. The overuse of "etc." is annoying in the audio book.

Not realistic at all. I like her enthusiasm and all, but it's the same words over and over with some "I spent $80,000 on seminars" thrown in. Who has $80,000 laying around to teach them how to make more money? Normal people just don't. I have a hard time with her whole "I was 40 and totally broke" thing to spending that much on self help seminars. She got lucky, plain and simple.

As a followup to Jen Sincero's "You are a Badass," she dives further into the concept of generating more money by bringing us "You are a Badass at Making Money." This is the book I started 2018 reading. What I learned from this book is exactly what I'm seeing repeated in every book I've read about creating wealth and abundance. It's all about changing your mindset and tapping into that wealth. Wealth is already available to each of us. We just have to learn how to access it. A lot of this has to do with facing our fears and taking a good hard look at how we view money. For many people, we look at money negatively. We don't see money as a means to an end. When we receive money, we are happy. When it is taken away from us, we are sad. When we don't have any money, we are scared, fearful, and missing it like an ex-lover that has left us. Yet, money gets a bad rap. People claim it is the root of all evil, when in fact it is not money that is evil. Money is a medium. It is what we decide to do with money that determines whether the use of money is good or evil. In other words, it is the person using the money that is innately good or evil. We are the ones who decide that, not money.By dealing with how we view and treat money, this book is designed to help us get to the root of why we are in the predicament we are in when it comes to money. It is up to us to deal with and change how we view money, especially if we want an abundance, rather than a lack of it.

If you want to faff about in the kitchen with lots of unique ingredients and endless amounts of cooking time then Mary isn't your girl. For those of us who like our food fresh and fast with recipes that use ingredients we actually often have on hand, then Mary Berry has got some wonderful ideas for your meals. These aren't flights of fancy like Yotem Ottolenghi's recipes where part of the magic is learning about new tastes or Nigel Slater who can make something extraordinary out of a fig and some leaves. These are reliable recipes that are time-and-family tested. Mary's Red Lentil Coconut Curry recipe has been the gateway drug to spicier recipes and expanded palates for many a budding cook.I think a lot of cookbook reviewers find Mary's recipes a bit tame. For me, that is a large part of her charm. These are approachable, accomplishable meals that will serve as a wonderful foundation for those who want to cook good food and for the passionate foodie they can be the starting point for a grand adventure.

If you are an inexperienced Cook here in the States THIS IS THE MARY BERRY BOOK FOR YOU also if you live on a budget and like to entertain this one is for you, As time goes on and you feel more confident in substituting go for her other book Mary Berry Complete Cookbook it is a clear and concise just a lot of the things are not readily available here in the states or are costly

I love this book for many reasons. It is well laid out so it's easy to see at a glance what a recipe requires in ingredients and time involved. More importantly, the recipes themselves are largely possible with ingredients most cooking people already have. The value of the dish is brought out not by exotic materials, but by the preparation and cooking techniques. Love it. And, of course, Mary Berry's pleasantness is infused in all pages, wafting at you with every turn.

I love this cookbook, it has simple and straightforward recipes with details on the cooking techniques including pictures to show the techniques. This is nothing fancy but yet these recipes feel substantial and easy to accomplish.

After watching the Great British baking show on PBS i was curious as to what her books would show me... Wonderful recipes... great cooking tips. Also brings back good memories from the show.

I chose this cookbook because it has a variety of meal options with explanations for preparation. Easy to use, dnn't have to go to the store for more ingredients before making most of them. I also bought two of her baking cookbooks.

My boyfriend turned me onto "The Great British Bake Off" and it was through that show that I heard about Mary Berry. Since the recipes on the show can be complex, I was surprised to find this book very simple. Her aim of this cookbook is that it has to look and taste good and be practical to make.She starts off with some how to techniques for eggs, cooking meat, fish, dessert making, etc. Her recipes span the gamut from breakfasts, salads and sides to main dishes. The pictures are colorful and appetizing. I had my boyfriend pick out what he wanted me to make. I made the "Penne with spinach and Stilton" on page 143. Attached is the photo of the end result. The only thing that differs from her recipe is that I used whole wheat penne instead of just penne and added a mushroom mix that included cremini mushrooms since my local supermarket didn't have only cremini mushrooms in stock.For this particular dish, it took me less than 45 minutes from setup to finish. I do wish she included how high of heat I needed to use when cooking everything but that was not listed so I guessed. The results were still spectacular.My boyfriend and I barely came up for air when we were eating the dish. I suspect the other recipes are equivalent. These dishes are definitely not low calorie or low cholesterol but it's a perfect cookbook for when I want to make a simple dish that tastes like I ordered it at a 5-star restaurant. I'm looking forward to trying the tuna and fennel pasta bake as well as some other recipes such as the chicken noodle soup and avocado caprese salad.

Love Mary Berry! This book is just like watching the master class. She breaks everything down in the first half of the book so you have the tools you need to create each recipe. Its wonderful. I love how everything is organized. Theres so many options and even a section for vegetarians it's such a well thought out book that really caters to everyone.
