I really liked this book. I've started reading paranormal books again after getting burnt out and am really enjoying them. This is the first in the series which deals with shifters and gargoyles which I've not read about before, and so far it's good.Cori has known something was wrong for several months, but no doctor has been able to help her. The only solace she's found is talking at night to her mysterious neighbor. She hasn't seen his face, but she's drawn to his voice and feels safe when he's around.Ryker has been stalking Cori. She's the key to locating Dalton, the immortal who slaughtered his sister and family. Dalton is also Cori's father. Ryker's initial plans were to take Cori and lure her father out. But after seeing her, he's drawn to her and even feels protective and looks forward to their nightly talks. However, when he realizes that he's not the only one watching her, Ryker knows his time is up. He has to move her. He also needs to tell Cori what she is. But the more time Ryker spends with her, the deeper his attraction. No matter what, he has to stay focused on avenging his family. Even if it means destroying the woman he's fallen in love with. The woman that is his wolf's mate.Loved it. Ryker is wow. The chemistry between he and Cori flies off the page. The story just sucks you in and you can feel Ryker and Cori falling more and more for the other. Cori is a strong female character. She's not a whiney chick who annoys you every time she speaks. Cori is confident and knows what she wants. Ryker.Primal Instinct is told in both Ryker's and Cori's POVs. It's a standalone but part of a series where the story as a whole progresses. I'm looking forward to what's up next.
Gargoyles that are not your typical gargoyles.....the gargoyles in Primal Instinct are animal shifters, that actually have to shift into their gargoyle form during the day.....that is until they find their mate, then they are able to stay as human during the day.Corinne is a human that thinks she is going crazy and suffers from panic attacks....what she doesn't know is that her father wasn't human and that she is like him, a gargoyle panther shifter.Ryker is a gargoyle wolf shifter out for revenge and Corinne is the one he needs to get close to in order to find the person that murdered his sister and nephews. What he didn't know when he made his plan to use her as a pawn was that she was his mate.Ryker moves in next door to Corinne and befriends her over their back fence. Corinne has the ability to tell if someone is telling the truth by listening to their words and has found that she is drawn to her neighbor even though she has never actually seen him in person. Ryker can feel that someone else is watching Corinne also and knows he needs to get her away before whoever it is makes their move, so he lets himself into her apartment and just as things are heating up between the two of them they are interrupted by an intruder breaking down her door.Things get a little rocky between Ryker and Corinne when she over hears the truth as to why Ryker wanted to get close to her in the first place, but the instinct of ones mate assists Ryker explain to Corinne that she isn't just a pawn for him to get to her father. Corinne's father has not been a hands on father and Corinne doesn't want to believe that he could be thee murder that killed Ryker's sister and nephews.....but it doesn't take long for her see her father for what he truly is. Can she save Ryker, her mate, from the death sentence her father has set in motion?The story has plenty of action and is a great read. I look forward to reading the next book in the Pendragon Gargoyles series.
Romance is the name of the game in this book. This book delivers what we all want more romance and excitement in our life. Overall i am very well pleased with this book and the excitement it has brought me. This book had me unwilling to put it down until I turned the last page. Would I recommend this book to other people? Yes I would including friends .I absolutely think this is great book. This book is a paranormal romance. It involves gargoyles, which are shape shifters from King Arthur's Avalon. They vary from Wolves to Dragons to Panthers. Are you following me? It is a very out there idea and when mixed with Arthurian legend it can get a little convoluted. Even so, I found myself enjoying it very much, when after the very beginning I ddin't think I would.It's not the kind of book that you obsess over every detail nor is it very literary, but it isn't meant to be! It is a fun, sexy ride, which, I believe It was meant to be. An especially good Spring or Summer read. Take it to the beach or poolside! I thought the characters were likable, the settings interesting and the romance steamy. I also enjoyed the perspective switch throughtout the book between the two leads.I would have liked to get a little more backstory on many of the side characters and what is happening in Avalon. I know this is a set up for a series, but a little more to get you going would have been nice. That said, I am sure the next books will get that all covered.I would recommend this book to fans of paranormal romance, shifters or someone looking for a easy, quick read.
Really nice, reminded me of Sherilyn Kennyon and her Dark Hunter series. Avalon is real, separated from the moral realm by a magic mist. Once Morgana killed Arthur, his loyal servants have fled Avalon - they are gargoyles (stone by day and dual magical creatures by night: human-panther, human- werewolf, human-dragon, etc). Everybody (good and bad) is searching for Arthur's sword, a most powerful magic object. Ryker is a werewolf seeking to avenge the death of his sister and nephews. His only lead in 50 years to her killer is Corrine, who has these strange panic attacks that prevent her from having a normal life. But they are not meant to be enemies. I enjoyed it.
