I ordered for this book because it contains information I cannot find in other Assembly language books. It deals with the Machine codes, interrupts, memory dumps, ROM BIOS routines, writing RAM resident programs etc. I was interested in these type of things because they help me know more about how to find information on a damaged drive, and in identifying malicious code on a drive. The book is very old, since it deals with 16-bit Assembly, but the information on how it relates to the hardware is very useful.

I'm new to assembly programming, but this book has been a great companion on my journey. I'm about half way through the book, but with what I've learned so far, I'm already making my own notepad program entirely in assembly! I pretty much started from the scratch so I'm in awe. The book teaches you to build an application with a series of micro procedures each of which is just 10-20 lines of code. Working this way made assembly programming a lot less esoteric and intimitating. The book follows the MASM syntax, but if you want to use NASM and convert the examples into the NASM syntax, I recommend you also get books that use NASM like Jeff Duntemann's "Assembly Language Step-by-step" (2nd edition, not 1st). The book is a little outdated but all the examples work just fine on my computer. I would highly recommend this book to anyone considering giving assembly programming a try!
