I like this cookbook very much. Some of the baking instructions are a bit casual, I wasn't sure how my Roti was supposed to look after resting for 2 hours, but I'm sure what I ended up with wasn't right. Now that I've "googled" it I'll do it again.

Here's the first of Florida's "New Cuisine." and a staple on most Floridian kitchens. Recipe run the gamut from the best kitchens of Florida to the fragrant spices of Grenada, West Indies.

This is my personal favorite cookbook of all time.One recipe is better than the next.

I bought Tropic Cooking for my Grandaughter that wanted to learn to cook fish like she has had on cruises. The recipes look great but has no pictures of the dishes. Kids are inspired by pictures, then taste. I will keep looking for tasty photographs.

My wife loves the fact that I like to cook. Our kitchen shelves are filled with cookbooks and most have a few recipes that I like. Tropic Cooking is one that I consistently use and everyone, including my kids, loves the results.The Florida Avocado Dip is wonderful, I usually leave off the olives though.Pork Chops Negril is a sweet treat that just takes a few minutes to create. It's perfect for an evening when you're strapped for time.Potatoes Bonaventure is always a hit at pot lucks, I think it's the pastrami that catches peoples attention as well as tickles their tastbuds.If you can get fresh ripe tomatoes that don't taste like cardboard then one of these two recipes are wonderful.Broiled Tomatoes with Mushroom Bits.Fried Tomatoes.I wish I was more of a dessert person because some of these sound wonderful. Cicely's Baked Bananas was an experiment once for a dessert party and it was very well received. I took home an empty plate which is always a good sign.I highly recommend Tropic Cooking!

Caribbean foods and their recipes are versatile and different. I have tried many Caribbean recipes but this book had some more surprises for me. I like this book because it has some very nice recipes, has some interesting inforomation about the recipes and background to them and they are pretty simple to make. Recipes I have tried are" chicken in lime sauce (9.6/10); butternut squash in lime (9.4/10); fried tomatoes (9.4/10); banana grumby (9.4/10)Singapore scallops (9.6/10); curry tuna creole (9.4/10). I have many more to try (there are 350 recipes). You'll be glad you will have tried some of the recipes of your choice.

I was always looking for a book like this on critical thinking. Your usual critical thinking book is filled with cherry picked good ideas on the topic but never organized in a thinker to thinker way.Here the author presented 10 great critical thinkers in a chronological-ideological fashion. I appreciated that the author chose thinkers from different schools of thought. The presented thinkers approach critical thinking sometimes from completely different angles yet they all arrive to the same conclusion - that our thoughts should be questioned from time to time. The entire book is a celebration of the essence of critical thinking - familiarizing with opposing thoughts and finding something in them we can connect with.

After reading this book, I find myself considering more how these masters of critical thinking throughout history might solve today's problems, and this book gave me a great introduction and reference point to continue learning more about both the history of critical thinking, and it's evolution around the world through time, focusing on ten of the greatest minds to tackle the world's problems, while teaching others to share that same curiosity and responsibility. The most important thing learned is that we can solve any problem with reason, and we just have to be open to asking the right questions.

An excellent summary of critical thinking philosophies and how they implement into aspects of our lives. The author gives a wonderful, multi-faceted approach to discussing critical thinking. An excellent read!

This audiobook lays out a great foundation to use critical thinking for asking the right questions to solve a problem. It covers several methods and applies them to practical applications. The narrator is perfect for conveying a vast amount of information and keeping you engaged is what is being said. I enjoyed this audiobook and have used the information contained within in my every day life. I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

Great book which focuses on the "heavy hitters" in the world of critical thinkers and philosophy. I liked the each thinker was introduced by a bit of a background and history of them. Further into each chapter is nice explanation of the different methods each one is known for .

This book focuses on well known philosophers like Socrates, Aristotle, Sir Francis Bacon, etc and how their thinking applies to our modern thinking. One of my favorite sections of the book was Descartes and how anyone seeking the truth through critical thinking must question everything even basic things learned as a child because as a child you acquired beliefs and opinions through instinct, sensory data and dogma. This book is put together brilliantly and is one of Albert Rutherford's best works so I'd definitely recommend you pick it up.

This book is well researched, based on the ideas of ancient experts in the critical thinking field. It's a quick read but you may pick it up more than once just to get a quick recap of the techniques and ideas shared. The ideas presented here are sometimes as old as 2500 years old, however, they serve as a good reminder to critical thinking methods that many of us can use even today. I particularly liked the thorough description of the Socratic questioning, the Thomistic Disputation, and James Mill’s teaching methods. Recommended read.

I enjoyed this coloring book very much. There were some houses that were sketched in a way that made them hard to color. It was like they were transparent so you are looking thru walls. But there weren't a lot like that.

Some designs are very difficult and some quite easy. All in all an Interesting book.

Love this coloring book! I listen to my audible book and color a few dream houses! Relax and unwind!

An excellent collection of essays on some truly great innings.This book faced a bit of criticism on the criteria and ranking methodology. While I do not think the authors were racist, as some of the comments at cricinfo seemed to suggest, I do not find the criteria objective. Nor were they employed consistently. But then, am genetically disposed to hate all these ridiculous "top 100" compilations. That is, my judgement on their methodology is to be taken with a grain of salt.However, do trust me when I say that it makes a great cricket read. It is a great collection of some dramatic moments in cricket history. The background stories in some cases and some quotes from more mainstream reports of the innings in question.Cricket lovers are going to love this book. I am looking forward to the one on bowling.

I have enjoyed all of Dave's books and this one was fantastic as he provides an unbiased, analytical approach as he weaves his way through the top batsmen of all-time.

Despite the title of ‘great test centuries” this book is obviously on what the author’s consider to be THE greatest test centuries ever. Actually when I say author’s opinion, in actual fact there’s a rating system which they go into great detail to explain. They used ten categories on which each innings is graded. The actual method isn’t given, neither is the points each innings received, which I feel detracts somewhat from the enjoyment of the book – I would have liked to have seen maybe the top 200 listed with the points allocated, to see why each one did or didn’t make the grade; maybe they thought the readers wouldn’t be interested, in which case I think they’re wrong. There’s also details of how each category was weighted to give the final rating, the heaviest weighing going towards the impact on the match, the strength of the bowling attack and the condition of the pitch.The book only covers centuries, which is too bad as e.g. Viswanath’s magical 97 misses out, but I suppose you have to cut off somewhere. Most of the book is taken up with the descriptions of the 100 performances and, despite the fact that there are a lot of different contributors, this isn’t obvious and the writing is on the whole of a high standard. It’s probably difficult for a writer to generate the excitement of a match in one page (the bottom 50 is one page, the next 25 two pages, and the top 25 six or seven with a scorecard), but mostly they do a good job.More than half of the book covers the top 25 innings, which features some of the best of today’s cricket writers, such as Rob Smyth and Ric Sissons, plus contributions from some players, including Derek Pringle and Dennis Amiss. My favourite pieces were David Frith’s and Stephen Chalke’s, though the pieces by some of the lesser-known writers, like those on Clem Hill and Colin Cowdrey, are also highly enjoyable..Very highly recommended!

I've read this book and I'm very surprised by this review. There are many innings by non-white players featured, in fact considering that at least 15 were from the era when only England, Australia and South Africa were playing Test cricket, I'd say it must be about half, which is more than a fair representation. Additionally, the description of the very complex rating system used surely refutes any claim of bias - there's pages and pages of it!I actually wonder if the reviewer has really read the book - everything commented on here could have been gleaned from the web review over at “cricinfo” and the Guardian's online extract of Graeme Smith's innings by Rob Smyth. There's no new information specific to this review.Finally, how does the reviewer know the authors are white? There aren't even any photos of them in the book!

When I was gifted this book, I thought I was in for a treat. But it proved to be a waste of time and even money (albeit not mine). This book has been promoted as the ultimate list of the 100 greatest centuries of all time, and the authors have gone to some pain detailing the 10 parameters that went into measuring the worth of each and every century ever recorded. But then, they don't tell us how those parameters were measured, or weighted. And the end result leads me to believe the worst: that they never wanted it to be a book covering all centuries, but just those by (or against) the white teams, specifically England and Australia. The final selection seems arbitrary at best, and biased at worst, baffling me to the point that I stopped reading the complete description of each century, but just skimming it to quickly get to the next (arranged in reverse order of 'importance'). For example, there's this match between South Africa and India which ended in a draw, with a century each in both innings by Kallis, and a century in opposition by Tendulkar. And BOTH of Kallis' centuries are included! Of course, Tendulkar's is not - so what's the point, that the match was not consequential for India but was for SA? Or Kallis faced much better bowling than Tendulkar did? True aficionados of cricket would laugh at both suggestions, as the reverse would be much truer. And there are more of such examples in the book.To doom it further, the style of writing is erratic, to put it kindly. The authors have chosen to invite prominent cricket writers to describe each century, and while most of it is typically (and expectedly) hagiographic, a bunch of it is rather boring. Many of the pieces seem to forget that they were to describe (praise) that particular effort to score that century, and go about praising the batsman's entire career, which completely takes away the focus. Case in point, the piece on Graeme Smith's 154 against England in 2008 starts with the final stroke that won SA the game and left Smith at 154 not out, and informs us that this was an epic effort, repeats that opinion, and then quickly gives us a run down of Smith's career, complete with all sorts of statistics, SA's journey, and ends up with their post-match activities including a fire-alarm in the hotel at night. What it does not give us, is how the match was played overall, what sort of challenge Smith faced when he came in to bat, who else played a part worth mentioning, how good the opposition bowling was - none of that! Maybe they should have allowed some Asian writers to submit some of these essays - but that might have muddied their pool.So you end up with a book that ranks cricketing feats, whose rankings are suspect and whose writing is sub-par. Epic Fail.

It’s not a one star but close. A female college professor manages to steal a yacht in the dead of night, get in a locked boat, start the engines without a key, disengage the shore power, unhook the water line, and cast off fore and aft lines, back out of the mooring slip and start off with a boat she has never operated before. Meanwhile, the hero of the story races down the dock, jumps on to another boat and leaps onto the deck of his moving stolen yacht, all the time never losing his grip on his Sig, ready to take on whoever is stealing his boat. Finding out it is a beautiful damsel he forgives her and quickly takes her to his cabin for the rest of the evening. Get the picture? Does the author really expect us to swallow this? I guess so. Can’t wait to read the rest of the books in this thriller series!

Perhaps I have read too many of these "I was once a commando/seal/green beret trained killer" books to get excited about another one so I may be judging a little harshly. I actually chose this book for its Caribbean theme only to find out that the author incorrectly identified the Florida Straits as the Caribbean. Some we'll written action segments but otherwise pretty predictable.

This had kind of an interesting (if highly unlikely) plot/story with way too much detail on just how bad-ass these guys & their equipment are. I got tired of being told that so-and-so leaped lightly over the bar or that he caught a tossed beer can with one hand. And then there's the wonder-woman who, with a sniper rifle (details included), explodes a bad guy's head from a several hundred yards. Never mind that she was one boat and said bad guy was fighting our hero on another boat.

I wanted to have the book rewritten and to be over. I like detail but with a purpose. This book had so much filler it became unreal. A good writer lets the reader's imagination do the work. This author leads you to implausible directions. I was not amused.

I have always enjoyed stories of treasure hunting off the keys with a protagonist that is also starting to get hooked into the conch life, and this book fit the bill for the kind of story I was looking for

Adventure from an exciting new character. Keeps you on the edge of your seat. I look forward to future tales

Read it one day. An interesting tale with lots of intrigue and action. A treasure hunt with an enjoyable ending.

Outstanding story telling. Enjoyed the characters and the locations, can't wait for the next Dodge adventure! Thank you for allowing me to escape the "daily grind" even if it just for a couple of hours!

In many respects this book is an amalgamation of the author's previous work, especially "Assessment and Control of Software Risks" (1994) and "Software Productivity and Quality Today: The Worldwide Perspective" (1993).First, don't be misled by the work "Patterns" in the title - this book is not structured in a design patterns format that has emerged as a popular standard. Instead it's an analysis and findings from an extensive collection of software project metrics from large projects (half million lines of code and greater) that were either successful or failed.The descriptions of the projects, how the analyses were performed and the findings are, in my experience, still valid today as they were when this book was written. More importantly, they serve as a set of guidelines for critical success factors, which can be derived from the twelve attributes that Jones culls from the study: effective project planning, effective project cost estimating, effective project measurements, effective project milestone tracking, effective project quality control, effective project change management, effective development processes, effective communications, capable project managers, capable technical personnel, significant use of specialists, substantial volumes of reusable material.Not surprising, the major pitfalls in the projects that failed were caused by poor management and leadership. In fact, this book states what to many of us are truisms, but backs them up with ample statistics and excellent research. In my opinion every software project manager should be required to read this book before being turned loose on a major project.
